Finding Welding Inspector CoursesOne of the fastest and strongest methods of joining metal together is by welding. And whenever metals are welded together they need to be inspected for strength and reliability. Many of the jobs that require welding, such as in structural steel, pipelines, structural aluminum, bridges, railroads, or high pressure are required to be completed by certified welders and then inspected and certified. The people that do this are called welding inspectors and must have completed Welding Inspector Courses and passed a test to obtain this certification. Welding Inspector Courses are available through many community colleges and the military. If there is time available and the courses can be taken in either of these methods it is well worth the investment to get them. The instructors are there and can answer questions when they come up. Other students are also on hand for discussion of problem areas and comparison of information and thoughts. With many people this interaction is a valuable component of the learning process. Other people choose to take their courses online through one of the many schools that are available there. The online schools will often set up chat rooms for the students to work together and discuss classroom theory. In addition to the Welding Inspector Courses there is a requirement of other education and experience. If you do not have your high school diploma or a high school equivalency obtained through the state or military, you should start to work on it immediately. The reason for this is that the more education you can demonstrate the less on the job experience you will need to have. For instance, if you do not have a high school diploma you will need a minimum of four years experience in an entry level position in a weld shop. If you do not have at least an eighth grade education you will need at least six year experience. There are other Welding Inspector Courses taught in the form of seminars put on by the American Welding Society. You should have taken the ones on welding Code Clinic, Welding Inspection Technology and a Visual Inspection workshop. While these courses are not required for certification as a welding inspector they provide a lot of the information that you will be tested on when you apply for the certification.
